Formatting Press Releases
This article explains how to format your press releases.
We've split the article into two sections, depending on if you
press release fits on one page, or is longer than one page.
Please be sure to also read out Press Release Formatting Tips
article.
One Page Formatting
The following illustrates the general format for a one page press release:
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CONTACT:
Your name
Your company
Telephone Number
Fax Number
Email Address
Web Site Address
Your Headline
City, State, Date - Opening Paragraph begins here. And should attempt to summarize your newsworthy story.
Additional Paragraphs follow. Remember to leave a blank line between each paragraph, and
do not split a paragraph over two pages.

Formatting Multi-Page Press Releases
For a release that runs to multiple pages, you should format the first page
like this:
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CONTACT:
Your name
Your company
Telephone Number
Fax Number
Email Address
Web Site Address
Your Headline
City, State, Date - Opening Paragraph begins here. And should attempt to summarize your newsworthy story.
Additional Paragraphs follow. Remember to leave a blank line between each paragraph, and
do not split a paragraph over two pages.
--more--
|
|
The second page should be formatted like this. If there are more than
two pages (note: you should aim to keep your releases to just 1 or just 2 pages),
use --more-- at the bottom each page, except for the last one. The
three hashes, ###, are used to indicate the end of your release.
Abbreviated Headline
Any remaining paragraphs should go here. Once again follow the basic rules
of not splitting a paragraph over two pages, and always leaving a blank line
between paragraphs.
