Sending Out Your Press Releases

Once you have finished writing your press release, you'll need to send it out to the media.

Here are some things that you could do:
  1. You could contact some media outlets yourself, by phone, fax, mail or post.

Of course, it may help, if you already have working relationships with journalists. But, even if you don't know any journalists, many news organizations publish contact details for their news desks.

Obviously, you might find it time-consuming to send out your release manually to a large number of news organizations - so start with your most important targets first (whether this be local media, media specific to your industry, etc.).

  2. You could use software such as PressBlaster to send out your press release to more news organizations.

  3. Be sure to publish a copy of your Press Release on your web site. You might be surprised how many peope may read it.

If you plan on regularly publishing press releases, you might even consider setting up an RSS feed on your site. This allows news search engines and other web sites, to automatically pick up your headlines.
